I heard they are great indoor dogs. And that makes no sense to me but that's what I hear. BTW, great photo!!!
They are. Most of the time they are gentle giants. Most of the time. I have dealt with a couple that were bad news and that's just.....impressive.
I bet it was impressive! I have been around a few over the years and they are all well behaved and friendly.
And get a BIIIIIG poop scoop!
Had one when I was young and he was a WONDERFUL dog. Only attacked the mail man once (and I think he was just trying to lick the top of his head). It was hilarious. Never went to the bathroom where he wasn't supposed to until the time he got sick and got diarrhea. OY VEY! Bad week that was! Never a sweeter, smarter dog though. He wouldn't BARK in the house. Only small "woof. woof." It was 40 years ago and I still remember him fondly.

I built a small table and cut holes out to hold the food and water bowls for mine so he didn't have to stretch so low to get to it, big rubber mat for all the slobber underneath.
Doesn't that prevent bloat?
It doesn't prevent it, but some say it reduces the likelihood.
We've done this with my old golden. Can't be too safe. Great Danes are definitely gentle giants.
