Great Sleeping Pad for Hiking?

Man, hiking is crazy expensive. I wish I liked the hammocks but I don't. You can drop a grand without thinking on decent gear.

I love camping in Boy Scouts, and thats when I realized stuff wasn't cheap.

A good back pack was like $150

I don't think you are going to find any hiking pad that will make it seem like you are sleeping on anything but the ground. The best they can do is even out the lumps a little.

I used to do a lot of UL hiking, and I would use an air mattress and a closed cell foam egg crate pad that was long enough to reach from my shoulders to my hips. Fill the air mattress up about 3/4 full and lay the cell foam on top.

I have a hammock and like it but man that thing gets cold. Not to thread jack but any suggestions on an underquilt?
