Greek banks prepare to raid deposits to avert collapse

Postcard From a Paralyzed City:

"A friend tried ordering a book on Amazon; the site denied her Greek-issued credit card. “It’s like being stranded on an island,” she said. A few budget airlines have announced that, while their credit won’t be accepted, Greeks can still flee the country by purchasing tickets in cash at airport check-in."

They just don't get why they are where they are at....... Dumbfounding, isn't it.

"Many claim that Tsipras has rehabilitated the idea of democracy and courageously staked his political livelihood on the upcoming vote." No true Democracy has ever survived much more than 200 years-ever!

When 51% of the population becomes takers then the demise of the nation's government is inevitable, if you believe world history.

Ben warned us.

Sounds familiar

My theory/prediction stands. Its all just pressure to get the Greeks to approve the referendum that is being promised to "do something", even though what it is going to do is double-down on austerity and try to get as much money back for the ECB/IMF and bond holders before Greece economically flatlines.

A corpse is not dead until a doctor "certifies" it so.

gold and silver is bout to be cheaper than a mother ****er yall

been saying this since cyprus collapsed. all we need is for greece or italy or spain to start liquidating whatever it can

as a capitalist i love other peoples socialism. so easy to bank off of their failures (and no i dont feel bad, they brought it on themselves so **** em)

But not the people, they got sold a lie and they are the ones who will suffer the most (as always).
not all the people, but a good number of them

if you work for the government and they arent honoring their pensions, then you have no one to blame but yourself

on that note i honestly think pensions are a stupid ****ing idea. i think they should be ILLEGAL for all government employees. nothing wrong with a retirement account but the idea of paying someone a salary every year they are alive (and then sometimes extending to the spouse) for not working is strange. a person should manage their own retirement and not rely on a tax payer funded shell out

yes i know you have to pay into a pension but the problem with pensions and social security is that you always end up having more people draw out of it than are putting in. its a pyramid scheme at best

You're a disabled vet right? What happens if (when) the VA says, "Sorry, we can't pay your compensation any more."

Functionally a pension or retirement benefit IS a retirement fund. It is just administered differently. Well run, it actually benefits the company/organization that runs it because it is deferred compensation, so they get to use/build the capital until they have to give it to the beneficiary.

The problem is in our politicians and our "what have you done/promised me lately" political system, heaping promise upon promise in order to keep their electorate happy.

I dont see the benefit in pooling other peoples money together to make pay outs later

This whole younger generation taking care of the old is a really terrible idea
