Growing up poor, what food do you eat from time to time?

Ramen noodles (any flavor) with a slice of american cheese and bacon bits!


Mr. P's frozen pizzas!!!!


I may have to eat these two today....I can smell the pizza cooking in the toaster oven already!

Lunch was usually peanut butter and jelly. I didn’t eat any for years. Now it’s like treat once in a while. Kind of weird how that works.

Bologna and mustard sandwiches.

Used to eat mayonnaise or mustard sandwiches when there wasn’t any meat to put on them. Have seen Mom tear the mold off of bread, cheese for a sandwich also. Grandmother used to get that government surplus cheese. About 5 lb blocks if I remember right. That stuff was good after you sliced the mold off it.

hot dogs, pork n beans, mash potatos and sometimes some cheap meat.

Beans and corn bread
We were not poor but income wise lower middle class. There wasn’t a lot of extra money, mom and dad worked hard. Damn fine eating Mama was a fantastic cook.

That’s the boat we were in ,still love the dried butter beans and cant leave out fried spam yum

You got that right...I've got a friend who is my age wouldn't never eat pickled beets as kid because he THOUGHT he didn't like them...lol he eats them now like theyre going out of style...
