A couple of questions:
1 - I have acquired an older revolver that has extensive lead deposits around the forcing cone. Any advice on how best to remove it?
2 - With an AR type rifle with locking lugs, how do you clean the lug area?

Lead away cloth for the revolver as long as it is stainless and not blued.

I, also, would like to know the best way to clean an AR lug area.

2) Don't. JK

Use a AR Chamber brush. https://www.amazon.com/Otis-Technology-FG-367-TP-Chamber-Brush/dp/B000E59A8E

But you can send a lot of rounds down range before it becomes an issue. I try to wipe down my BCG after shooting suppressed nasty steel case every 300-500 rounds. Not an expert by any means. Just what I do.

I use the chamber brush and special chamber swabs to clean the lug area.

Here are some pics of some special tools you can do that process with. I just buy the bags of the little star shaped swabs which is fairly inexpensive, attaching to a brush soak them in cleaner and swab it out real good. They do an excellent job.
