No way I could sleep with my guns in a storage unit. 
I can see packing a handgun in a box with books or something and putting it in storage, but not rifles.
Find a friend with a garage or a walk out basement. Move your safe there. HD rents out Appliance dolly that has a strap.

Had to do that for a friend a couple years back. House flooded, repairs going to be a few weeks. Insurance company put him & wife up in an EXTENDED STAY motel. Several days into it, he mentioned the situation said his guns and coin collection were in the BACK OF HIS MINIVAN and his two cats were boarded at a vet.
I like to have crapped myself when he told me! Had to force him to pick up the cats and do not pass go, drive straight to my house with everything.
I would not leave my guns in storage unit, also I think it said no guns in the fine print when I rented one. @medium187mph is the boss when it come to storage unit quesitons
