9.6 minutes per man for 12 hours? That's humping it I don't give a damn who you are.

We practiced fireman's carry in military school and I was 18 and 187 lbs of muscle and sinew. No way could I have carried 75 men any distance in 12 hours. No way. A man's got to know his limitations.

And getting shot at or wounded pretty much the whole time. Incredible.
Hell, his wounding was worth another CMH all by itself. He was in a foxhole with three other men when a Japanese soldier threw a grenade at them. Knowing there was no way to get away, he grabbed it and threw it out. It went off before getting fat enough from him but he was between it and the other three soldier.

LOL! It is kind of overwhelming to understand what he did.
I don't think he done it alone. They said in the documentary that two companies, his and another were sent to take the ridge early on. Before going he prayed for his men. The other company was nearly wiped out but his company receive ZERO casualties. The next day his company was sent again but he didn't get to pray and they took heavy casualties. On the day of the final assault, it was the Sabbath, the day he had not worked even while a soldier for the two years he had been in the Army. His captain sent a request up the chain and the entire division delayed the assault while he prayed. They took the ridge for the last time and won the battle.

I am going to have to watch this guys story. Not many men like him.

Limbaugh was talking about the movie today and he said it's really good. It's based on fact about a guy from Blue Ridge a 7th Day Adventist that wanted to be a medic and would not touch a rifle and wanted to fight, saved like 75 guys. Anyway, I'm going to watch it.
