hammer spring replacement

how often should you replace a hammer spring on a sig 226. the previous said he shoti about 7000 rounds in competition and replaced all springs except the hammer spring which i have in a bag new with receipt attached
the hammer spring is titled hammer spring - 17 lb reduced power

should i replace it? the gun is still working as it should with no problems now
how difficult to replace the spring, i am far from being a gunsmith

If you trust your life to to it then I would change it.

i put the new spring on it with fair ease, but i did take some time to get the metal bar back into place on the hammer, in the end i have shiny new hammer spring ready for some practice
