Harley-Davidson BIKER’s, Are They from Another Planet? lol

Several years ago I guy I work with took up riding. Let's call him Joe. He was middle aged, and had never ridden before, so he took a class. He purchased a Yamaha and started riding, every day.

The guys at work gave him crap from day one. They all rode Harleys, and gave him you know what for his "Jap crap".

Then one winter morning I pulled into work. It was 34 degrees and sleeting. There was one bike in the parking lot - a Yamaha.

I spent the entire day searching out the Harley boys: "Did you ride your bike today? No, you say? Too cold, you say? Well, Joe rode his."

That was one of my best days at work.
Hey Joe, good to meet you Sir. You did a good job riding that Yamaha.
You’re also “The Man”… :becky: :becky: :becky: :becky: :becky:

A five-hour ride through the West Virginia mountains to my home in Maryland was fun. Snow in the mountains, so cold it took 20 minutes to pull my gloves off to warm my hands enough to open the garage door. That was in the early 80's . . . 60 degrees would feel cold now!
I have been thru that area couple of times, at spring time. One of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen…

Made a solo run from Atlanta to Daytona for bike week one year, it rained on me all the way. Didn’t have a rain suit, threw on an old cheap snowmobile insulated coverall.
Got to my hotel to check in, standing in the lobby, noticed everyone staring at me.
Turns out that coverall was not waterproof, and had soaked up gallons of water which it was now releasing into a giant puddle around me.

Umf, that's kids play :becky: In the winter of 1963-64, I rode my motorcyle from Wurzberg to Schweinfurt at 0200hrs and it was 35 below, and I had chains on it, going Clack Clack Clack Clack thru a foot of snow at 20 mph LOL.. Fun, but I'd never do it again:shocked:
Is that F or C? Sounds like a fishing story. I don’t think they usually get any colder temps than about 10f to -5+\-f on the extreme on an average year in that area.

The winter of 63-64 was the coldest in Germany in over 100 years, with Artic winds coming down it was recorded down to 50 degrees "F" below zero on several days and 30-40 "F" below most nights for over a month, as a Member of the 3rd Infantry Div, we were on field training for almost two weeks and they left us there, so if you want to go fishing in that kind of weather, do it, but I was there and I knew how cold it was, I still shake when I think about it..

Worst ride I had was in 1975. I left Virginia Beach VA one morning, headed for Charleston SC. It was 38 degrees, and starting to rain. Had a snowmobile suit, a helment, and cheap gloves. It rained the entire way, was soaked to the bone. Was on military orders, had no choice but to continue. What a miserable ride. I have ridden in 32 degress as well, I think the worst part is the top of your thighs start to burn with the cold from the wind wicking heat from them.

IDK ….i think BIKER13 BIKER13 has the title of THE MAN !! In this thread for sure ! 7degrees ??!! I cant imagine !
had on a 3/4 helmet and went to pull it down and the windshield split Had to ease another 4 miles and only found some duct tape to tape it up with.the ride home was in the 30's.
