Hello, I'm mtdawg169 and I'm a parts snob.

I though I remember reading Spikes was the first one to start building a quality gun for the civilian market. True or fanboy nonsense?

I see. I read it like you had bought the gun. I'd be interested to hear if Sportsmans Guide stands behind the gun and how they make this right.
None of the posted pictures are from my personal guns. Most of the guns pictured are guns I've fixed for other people. And a few are common issues posted on the interwebs (broken receivers & bolts).

As with anything, routine maintenance and proper assembly technique is critical with any moving parts.
How often do you see a poorly maintained weapon fail versus a properly maintained?
Also, some of those pics like the broken lower look more like abuse.
All pictures were results of normal use.

appreciate the information and perspective. stories like this is why that when I decided to spend a little money on the AR 15, I decided to go with JP Enterprise for my complete rifle. People can build their own for a lot less, but I don't think I'll have any regrets about the extra money spent - since I don't build for myself.
