Help deciding on a new carry gun

I am looking for a new carry piece, I am not a brand or caliber snob and will be buying it new. My price max is $2000 but I would like to stay in the $1000. I was thinking about a new Kimber as I really like my old one but I am unsure of what route to go, So anyone have any suggestions on a good carry piece.


Suggestions should exclude as I already have them.
Walther pps, S&W 642, G26, G36, Kimber solo, Kimber uc2, Kimber Procarry2, Beretta Nano, XD9, XDM9, XDM 40

I would skip half of those for a Kahr PM9, PM40, PM45, or K9 Elite
The Solo is notoriously finicky, I wouldnt bother with that one at all for a carry piece.

I just brought my new Kimber Solo w/ct grips to the range yesterday and love it, trigger is GREAT, ate everything I fed it including 115g which is not on the recommended list. It out shot my Sig 938 side by side and will be my prefered carry gun when not carrying my Kimber 1911 compact aluminum or STI 1911.

Different comfort levels for different folks.
No carry gun of mine will be well known for sudden finicky behavior.
Its just not something I would do. Others feel differently.
