I used one for quite a few years (Rem 7400) and never lost a deer that I shot with it. If LGS was going to have one on sale in this caliber I would probably jump on it. Sadly they aren't going to have this on sale.

Never lost one with a 223 or even a 22 hornet...
Is the felt recoil similar? I have no experience with the 6.5
.308 because the ammo is EVERYWHERE.
308 because its 308
6.5 Creedmoor is my choice, low recoil, able to talk over here and slap something upside the head way over there, ammo is in every Academy Sports, Gun store and online anytime you need it.
Don't let me or anyone else on here make your mind up for you. Just my opinion, I don't think you would regret a 6.5.....or a 308 for that matter.

When hunting with .308 I never use, at most, more than a couple rounds. How is recoil from a .308, which isnt bad anyway, on one shot or two a deciding factor? If I was doing weekend shoots of several hundred rounds I'd consider recoil. 308 is tried and true, an exceptional hunting round for the southeast, ammo is commonly available with a plethora of choices. Hard to go wrong with a 308. Not knocking 6.5. Its great. But for a versatile hunting round in the southeast my choice would be, and is, 308. And if there is ever an "ammo shortage" of any kind I bet I'd still be running across 308 long after 6.5 has become a unicorn.
