Help me decide...Ruger American .308 Win or 6.5 Creedmoor? GOT ONE!!! .308

I have a Weatherby Mark V Ultra light in 308 for distance game...I had it ported, it is a tack driver.

For deer hunting I’d go .308.

Get the .308 for general hunting in Georgia.
You can alwYs buy "low recoil" or "managed recoil" loads that reduce it to just a bit aboce .30-30 Win. in power and performance, good for deer within 200 yards.

The 6.5 Creedmoor's only advantage over a .308 is seen beyond 800 yards.

And at 800 and beyond, energy for hunting becomes an issue with the lighter 6.5 bullet.

How do you come to the conclusion that the advantage of 6.5 Creedmoor is only seen beyond 800 yards?

I hope people that ask for advice here know how to weed out the BS.

You can down load a 308, you can't up load a 6.5.

Because the 6.5 has no real ballistic advantage until the higher BC of the 6.5 bullets comes in to play. That happens at around 800 yards.

I'm sure every deer cartridge has let people down. The harder hitting ones do it less often.
