Gents, If you had your choice between a Mecury and a Honda 15 hp., which would you choose and why?

Honda. Less maintenance in the long haul and quieter

mercury is a fine product, i have one now, elpt 50 o/b but i have had more honda products and i would swear by them. quiet and very low maintenance. my foreman 4x4 is a 1997 and great. glw purchase

To me the mid 90's Johnson or Evinrude 2 stroke motors are the best smaller hp motors with Yamaha and Mariners run a close second.
If you are considering a 4 stroke motor, take into consideration that they weigh more than a 2 stroke. From what I have seen and heard the 4 stroke Mercury's seem to be more reliable than Honda's.

had a 7hp mercury 4 stroke i used for a lake management job for two years and had zero problems with it and it was subject to a TON of quick on/off's, moving around in the back of a truck all the time, and was ran prob 25-30 hours a week. would still start right up just like the first week i got it.
