I grabbed one of the Savage 12 fv from Cabela's when they went on sale with the rebate. When I picked it up I asked the "knowledgeable " salesperson about scope mounts and rings. I decided to go with Leupold DD bases and rings. He told me medium would work with my scope a Millet 4-16x50. Well needless to say my scope was just barely touching the barrel. I returned the mediums and purchased a set of high rings thinking that would do the trick. I put the high rings on and the scope still touches. It seems just as bad as the medium. So before I send back the high and get super high I thought I would ask if anyone else has put a scope on this rifle. The barrel is a heavy bull barrel. Do I need a thicker base? I have seen a lot of people using the EGW bases. Do they add a little more height? I hate to play the return game with shipping rings back and forth. Thanks guys.
