Could use some help for a family member. I’m not up on these but could use some help with value on a Norinco Mak 90 in styrofoam. Don’t think it’s been used. Checked completed auctions on Gunbrokers and only saw two sold, one for $2000 and one for $1800. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good rifles.
Several issues: first is proprietary mags. $80-$120 each. Very limited supply since no imports from 1994. I have never found a reliable aftermarket mag due to the design of the bolt chamber.

Second: furniture- if the rear of the receiver is slant cut - you’re stuck unless you want to pony up $$ for a special stock. If straight cut - still very expensive to find a decent complete Chinese stock.

Third: muzzle - looks like yours was ground down at the factory so limited ability for a flash hider.

Fourth: spare parts - there are none.

I like Chicom rifles - own them still.
These are soft shooting rifles. Weird ban era stocks. At $1500-2000 - expect to sit on it for awhile. Might sell for $1500 on Gunbroker before their fees.
At shows or stores - they retail for around $1500 max - even if the tag says more. The 56S or 84S sell for more since they are pre1989 import ban and are ready to go.

Couldn't have said it better. This, 100%.

Good info, thanks!

You can pop off the top cover and shine a light to the inside rear area. You should be able to see if it is slant cut or straight cut. People want a straight cut receiver.

Thanks, I’ll check.

Probably will have to take the stock off to make sure. If it were 7.62x39 it would probably sale faster/easier. Like has been said the 556 mags are expensive and hard to find. Not all AK 556 mags might work. It would be hit and miss unfortunately

A guy that already has Chinese 556 rifles would be your best bet on getting that sold. A collector that wants it the way it is and not be interested in shooting it would be ideal.

Sign up on akfiles.com and theakforum.net Guys there could help you out and the marketplaces at both are very busy.
