Here’s my story

Dang Shep. Hate this is happening to you but respect you for owning it and taking control of the situation. I will take one of your classes one day and have learned a lot just from some of your posts here. Title or not, you are still respected here.

I successfully completed a course of training that one group said gave me the MOS; I was later told that this was not true and I did not rate the MOS.

The DD214 I received when I EAS’ed does not list the MOS; my SRB shows that I completed the course. I believe a second DD214 I received years later has the MOS listed.

I chose to believe part of the equation, but not the other, and claimed so for over 20 years.

The USMC Scout/Sniper Association, who can be justifiably considered the subject matter experts in such things, has judged that I did not earn the MOS and do not rate the title.

I will cease claiming myself as such. I will leave that honor to the Marines who have received the proper, recognized training and have been acknowledged as such.

I will not deny the training I did receive, however.

I notified my current employer, as well as my former employer as I still assist them in many things.

I have notified a large number of my students through social media, websites, and emails. I will continue to do so. If you are a student of mine and wish to speak to me, please contact me at your convenience.

Semper Fi!

I have not had the oppurtunity to train with you, but truly hope I get to soon. From your presence on here and what members say of your training you are tops to train with. From that and this post alone I can tell you are a man of morales and extremely high character! Thank you for the service you gave this country!!

When the fleet would pull into Subic we would go up to Angeles City to get away from the insanity. There were some great bars up there like the Nipa Hut and some right outside of checkpoint Charlie we'd go to. Nothing like grabbing a few San Miquels, getting a special Jeepney and driving through the "zig zags" (mountains and rice patties) to Clark. Aahhhhh the good old days...until the Marco revolution started.

I was at Clark 1972-1973 at the 6922nd Security Group (we worked with the Elephant Cage - AN/FLR-9 antenna). Ran Fields Avenue and MacArthur Highway off most shifts (until Marcos declared Martial Law and the curefew). Ran Micheal's Bar on Fields, The Rumors, Brown Jug, Fire Empire, Shanghi Restaurant, and a lot of other bars on MacArthur that I've forgotten the names of. It was a great tour with lots of visits out of town to Black Beach and other tourist kinds of places. Was there when the POW's flew out of Hanoi and got to see them come off the plane when they landed at Clark. That was a tour unlike any other tour.

Here’s a copy of my DD214 showing the I completed the 8 week USMC Scout/Sniper Basic Course. It is in box 14.
