Run a tripod, it helps a lotMy skills are not worthy of an expensive rig. Arthritis and a neck injury prevents me from shooting in the prone position. My Bergara with a Vortex Viper are more than I need.
Those old Weatherbys were beautiful.I used to have a bolt action rifle with a wood stock that would probably cost $2000 today if it were still on the market.
It was the Weatherby Mark V deluxe :
butter smooth action, glossy blue finish on all the metal, gloss finish on the walnut stock, etc.
This kind of rifle would probably give me more satisfaction of ownership than an ugly but practical tactical precision rifle built on a olive-drab synthetic stock with alloy chassis.

YES!!!I just bought a $4k bass guitar. Are my playing skills worth that? Not really, lol. I'm not even in a band. People can like and have nice things just to have them.
All that matters is that it works for you. I wouldn't have known different if a late friend hadn't turned me on to custom built stuff a while back. And my own experiencesBought a CVA Cascade LRH in 6.5 PRC last here to hunt with my Son up in GA. Put a Vortex that I got off of here and it does everything I want it to do. 3 shots @ 100yds=halve inch, Don't hunt but once a year so dropping a bunch of $$$$ isn't worst it.
