"High End" bolt actions

I went the bergara route for my 6.5 CM then the bergara premier for the 300 PRC, both are good shooters. My Tikka blows them both out of the water in .223. But the money is in the glass. The bergaras wear gen 3 razors and the tikka has a mk5 leupold which was a mistake in buying but we live and learn.
What was the mistake?

YES!!!
they can, and they should!!!
Enjoy what you choose, buy what you choose!!!
I LOVE TO USE NICE THINGS....ever felt the bolt slide on a Kelbly rifle....it's orgasmic!!!
eyes are gone....can't shoot it worth a sh*t....BUT I sure love cycling that action!!!!
That's it, go with what you like. You're the one paying the bills

Hadn't heard of those guys, had to look them up

The leupold. I like the reticle, but the glass quality sucks for what it cost.
Interesting. I've always felt Leupold was good for the money. A sweet spot for me if you will. Not to say I won't try a German scope in the future. My rich uncle gotta get outa the poor house first, he died 20yrs ago.......

In the $400-700 ish price range, sure. The mk5 in the $2k price range is on par with everyone else's $1000-1200 scope.

Oh, well that explains it. So far I ain't never spent more than $550 for a scope. But that was a few years back. I do have a pair of Steiner binoculars. I got a great deal on them some time ago

Normally, I agree with you on this kind of stuff but I don’t know about this one. I enjoy the Mk5’s so much I sold my NF stuff and went all Leupold. Everyone’s eyes are different.

When you get into the $2k range the best way to tell is early morning or sunset at distance if you see what you get for your money.

Alot of scopes look good at noon with the sun shining bright overhead.

I have three priorities:
Clarity.

I relief and how it functions through out the magnification range.

Toughness/reliability.

Leupold is a great company to deal with and my Mk5 is very good but I doubt I would buy it at full price considering some of the options in the price range.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to start a flame war. I apologize if I did. I just find the Mk5 to be a good value but like you, I wouldn't pay retail for one.
