Home internet / WiFi hotspots - 4G Community

Windstream sucks and they are the only provider where I live.

Our internet goes down a lot and we have to call them especially on the weekends then all of the sudden after we call our internet comes back up.

I think they shut connections off and only turn them on when you call.
They act like you have a problem on your end and try every trick in the book to lie to you when you know all they do is press a few buttons and your service magically reappears every time you call them.

It's sad because you know they are lying on the phone to you and they know that you know that after so many calls.

It got to the point where I call and they know me by name and I just say...."Hey it's me....press your magic button so my internet will come back on...thanks." Then I hang up.

Frustrating.
Well it a comes down to their lack of infrastructure. I'm no telephone or Internet tech and this might not be "how things work" but everyone I know that has Windstream has the same problem you described. They must cut one off to give another service and it's a vicious cycle of everyone calling in and getting the other people shut off so they can get service . . . . Until the other people call in of course.

^^yep^^^

Same thing when a new company comes in.

In my old neighborhood we had a new company come in giving good deals.
We went with them because they offered killer Rates.
We would see a truck connecting service at our neighbors house then ours would immediately go down.

So this is what mine looks like. Along with two papers from 4G with basic instructions.

Hell yes! I ordered 4G this week. I will post my results. If they are good, I will tell Windstream to f&*k off!

So far I'm at 143.3gb downloaded and no obvious slowdown in speed. Played a little online last night while download was going in the background and game play was fine. Speeds are fluctuating a little which I assume is to be expected especially using a cell phone signal. Average speeds running 8-15 Mbps with some higher burst occasionally. Mid 30s ping. Still faster and cheaper then Windstream.

I went with the basic package not the premium. From I could tell the difference is the premium you get a different hotspot that can use all the sprint signals 3G,4G,LTE and the basic hotspot only pulls LTE. My only theory on that (besides price difference) was that if it wasn't LTE speed anyway it wouldn't be fast enough for what I wanted. Plus side to either one is its a hotspot and they're also battery operated so you're not limited to home only.
How are you able to gauge the speed?

Thanks. The Windtream tech gave me a place to go to check their speed. Their BEST is 1.5 mbps. * to 15 mbps will be lightning fast for me.
