Home invasion stories

I could tell you my story, but I'm a black ops Force Recon Super Spy S.E.A.L. Operative and we're not allowed to talk about anything in our personal or professional lives.

:D ;)

I hear what you are saying, and I understand where you are coming from but this is how I view the situation. First off, if they decide to break into my house, and steal a TV set, they it is him/her that decided that his/her life is only worth a TV set, not me. But, it goes a little deeper. To me, when someone comes into my house to steal from me, they are not taking just a TV set, or furniture, they are taking a piece of my life. You see, I don't work because I like it, I trade my time and skill for money so that I may purchase things to make my family more comfortable. If I had my rathers, I would spend all my time with my family. So, since I leave my family to work, so that I may buy things for them, then everything in my house is purchased with a part of my life. Now, I can never get back. Yes, I can work some more and buy a new TV, but then that would be two periods of my life that I will never get back. So for the man that comes to take my property, what he is actually doing is taking a piece of my life and that is something that is very dear to me.

Luke
well said luke, you saved me from a posting a rant explaining why i would "kill for my tv" couldn't have said it any better then that

My sister in law was just robbed tonight. She and her 6 mo son were sleeping on the couch when she heard the backdoor window break. Her son started crying and by that time the robber stole there money and gun.
Once I get a serial number I will post it up. This is the second time they have been robbed in a years time.
Lock your doors and take your precautions. This was In villa rica.

My comment was more speaking to the fact that I'd rather hunker down in a safe room with my family with an AR15 pointed at the only entrance while we wait on the police than go out investigating my living room to save my television. I can buy a new TV. I can't buy a new face if I guess wrong when I break the corner right/left in my hallway when clearing the main room. Conversely, I can't count on always having the upper hand simply because I am armed and trained. I'm not the only one practicing, and there's no rule in the thug's handbook that says there won't be more than one. Will I risk life and limb searching my house in the middle of th night for a threat to save my family? You bet your ass. My Sony 37"? Not in this lifetime. See what I'm getting at? I take NO issue with protecting myself and my loved ones. If it's you or me/my family... you're about to become a 5.56 magnet. But it's nothing personal. You didn't have to come pouring down my hall with a kitchen knife. You could have gotten a job as a Wal Mart greeter or something.

Just my take on defense in the home. The important thing is that we're all willing to protect ourselves and our loved ones. Your tactics don't need to mirror mine.

I live in VR. Mind sharing the road/location? You can PM it if you want.

Is there any statistical evidence to support this?

If you watch the news and read the paper the trend with most violent home invasions is that it is a "crew" of 2-4 perps. You can most definately expect to face handguns and probably at least long gun.

Read the second paragraph. The very definition of the crime involves multiple perps.
