stole it from another forum....some of the already made racks a little expensive? or don't want to spend $40 on steel...? Try the below...also looking at a PVC solution...
Here's how:
1. Stretch a thick wire coat hanger (think of pulling back a bow).
2. Bend the base of the neck down 90 degrees.
3. Wrap the hook in fabric (I secured it with tape)
4. Put the large part of the hanger under your matress, with the hook hanging down.
5. Repeat once.
6. Hang firearm.
Done!
You'll have to play around with the distances to see how far apart they should be for your particular firearm.
My wire hangers work fine with my 500C, but stress a bit under my Mini 14. I'm not sure how a 500A or an 870 would compare, weight wise.
It's certainly not nearly as rugged as "The Backup", but at $39.99 less, it's not a bad deal, either.
Just wanted to share and see if anyone else has ideas like this or ideas/solutions for pistols on the bedside....
