How close have you got to a deer?

Back before they thinned the herd you could feed deer by hand at Red Top Mountain. Suburban deer get real close too. I've been ridiculously close to deer at Kennesaw Mountain and Blankets Creek bike trails. On the bike trails at blankets creek they will sometimes bed down right next to the bike path and won't even get up when you ride by.

All the time. Got within about 10 yards of one tonight until I grunted and scared it off. About a week ago, I had 4 of them at about 15 - 20 yards all around me for about 10 minutes until they all walked off. If the wind is right, and you're still, it's not too hard.

Probably not as close as I got to this bear in my back yard. 20 feet or so.

Standng where a trail met an old field road on my papaw's farm . Had a small 8 just about run me over. He slammed on the brakes at the last minute skidding within a few feet of me. Got on his feet just in time to take a 180gr from a 300 Savage . Ran a few yards and crashed..

Haha. No bears please. I have them come near all the time in the stand. Have spit on them before. But I was thinking more along the lines of how close they have came in the ground or in someones yards. Pretty cool stories though.
