How did you pick your college football team?

I think the OP was on point about the Bama bandwagon and that's why you're not getting many responses here.

Dawgs fan since early age, lots of community ties to the school but attended different smaller school myself.

Family all over the board. Grandfather graduated Auburn, cousins (they are brothers) one went Alabama the other Auburn and I have a brother in law thats an LSU fan. Also have a cousin who's a GA Tech fan for what the 1984 team did for his Dad.

The Red Wings are a professional team. Not the same (with NIL it's starting to be pretty similar).
Ok, I see.

I can be a passionate, hard core Miami Dolphins fan having never set foot in Miami. But it’s unauthorized to be a Miami U fan because I didn’t attend school there.

Makes perfect ODT sense

Graduated from University of Florida... Also middle and high school in Gainesville.
Wife of 43 years was born in Gainesville.

I think for most people, it's where they went to college or maybe where their kids go.

See some folks that I think, just want to be part of the "group" discussion and take part in the rivalries so they just pick a big winning program. For most that would be the local team, but maybe they pick one out of state just to be different.

I bet most on here that are big cheerleaders, didn't actually attend and graduate from the college their cheer for so hard for each week. Now that part I don't understand.

My whole family is either ROLL TIDE or WAR EAGLE.. I’ve been ROLL TIDE MY WHOLE LIFE… never was another option for me.. my family is from ALABAMA.. I’ll never understand the thought method that you had to go to a particular college to be a fan of that football program

Pretty sure most NASCAR fans never sat their ass in a race car, either. Same with any pro sport, and yet, folks still cheer for their faves. Crazy, huh?
