there are time I wish I had listened to my father and joined the Air Force... He was in for 30 years and retired in his mid 50s with a very nice pension.. The one thing that turned me off from the military was the constant moving..
My brother was career Army. Retired (LTC) and doing very well. His son, my nephew was in the core at A&M. Went to flight school (flew the Kiowa) and was sent in for the initial invasion of Iraq right after he got married. The way his service credit rolled up he could have retired at 42 I believe it was. Can't remember what his likely rank would have been but I think at least LTC if not full Col. At the time he was struggling with his decision to leave after his 6 years was up (due to flight school) I was near what would have been his retirement age and it sounded like an incredibly attractive no brainer. Then I remembered... nobody is shooting at me.there are time I wish I had listened to my father and joined the Air Force... That was actually part of what I enjoyed - going to a new place every 3-4 years...
