How is the milsurp market these days?

This is a new one for me…..

Looking out of state for an authentic navy Garand in 7.62. Seller won’t ship to me because he says the rifle must go through a regular FFL and not a C&R. His logic is that the Navy replaced the barrel in ‘65…..which means it’s not in its original configuration…..so he believes it’s no longer C&R eligible.

I’ve never heard of this before, but it’s a nice weapon with excellent documentation so I’m gonna play along.

What say you?

It’s just that I‘ve never heard of the barrel swap removing a garand from the c&r list.

Cmp changes barrels all the time , new even . But whatever his rifle .

If you are in need of a Garand, CMP has RACK GRADES for mail order $650. Crap shoot on barrel wear.

They are out of Service Grades and Field Grades right now, just Special or Expert Grades.

With what Garands are selling for on the open market, $650 is a great price. Bad barrels are easily addressed for a couple hundred dollars and you're still way under market for a good shooter.

Brownells did a large run of complete retro uppers...very nice. There are some of them for sale over on GB.

I can afford the upper off GB! That’s a good find . My son who some of you know has gone off on a AR phase. Lol.
