How is the milsurp market these days?

7" high at 50 is 100% about right. Remember back when that rifle was made they were shooting across fields at 250 to 300+ yards that rifles zero is probably 200 yards. It wasnt really a thing to be shooting at 50 yards in 1870s or really pre WWI. QCB Had not been inverted yet.

The key hole problem could be worn born, to soft of lead, to slow of a load ext.
Yea I don’t disagree. It’s a 220 grain projectile. I’d have to Chrony it but it’s probably traveling around 1800 FPS with my mild loads. I’m sure it’ll be much closer at 100 yds.

Again, I’d have to chrony the trapdoor and slug the bore to find out what’s going on. I may have too slow of a load like you said. Don’t quote me on this but I think I used 4198 powder for that load

Signed for my 1903 today. RIA mfg 1919 with a minty 1928 Springfield barrel. Stock is solid but a little beat up. World wars will do that to you... I’ll post a pic later with all the rifles that accept 1905 pattern bayonets.

Did I mentioned that I rescued this rifle from California? I should get some sort of medal right?
