How much to tip fishing charter captain?

I'm taking my kids on a 5 hour inshore fishing trip this week. It's about $500 for the trip. How much, if any, would you tip at the end of the day?

Depends. How hard did he work, how many fish did you catch and how much fun did the kids have?

Never had the opportunity to go fishing on a charter but I tip on service and attitude.
Left a very attentive and polite waitress $10 yesterday on a $20 lunch.

I chartered a boat last week out of Islamorada for me and the wife. We didn't "slay" the Mahi, but we did okay... better than most other boats. I tipped the 1st mate 20% = $300.

Ya gotcha top shelf girls, which bring the most, but they also do anything. ANYTHING. Mid levels will get the pumped prime, but working out the rest is up to you. Low levels, well they are just that. Usually work for the flavor of the week and a bottle of cheap liquor.

Deckhand is the person to tip.
Deckhands get 50.00 to 75.00 per trip from the Caption...
They set up to go out and clean after.
If they clean your fish 20.00 minimum..
