How-to question for installing old iron hitching post in the ground

I'd be careful of making them too "immovable." You want them to be able to be pushed over (by mistake) by a car WITHOUT breaking otherwise you'll be looking for one more antique, out of production post to replace a broken one.

Yeah. I’m thinking about burying the pipe end and just packing the clay back around it. No concrete. :noidea:
 
Tack a piece of rebar across the bottom plate…and if you decide to move or remove, you could simply unscrew them…leaving the plate buried…
