I know doodly squat about boats and want to fish. What do you recommend?

If you are buying used watch a youtube video on what to look for in used boats. It'll save you a lot of headaches.

My suggestion is don't buy used buy something new you can afford. A big thing with boats is allowing the engine to warm up before you slap it into overdrive at the lake especially during cold weather. Great way to blow an engine if you don't.
I didn't know anything about boats when I bought mine. Bought a new one. Still have it almost 40yrs later. If it was a car, it'd have @ 300k on it. Don't know about these new 4 stroke engines though. Mine is the old 2 stroke. More power, less weight. I do have to admit, at the prices of new ones I'd hate to have to buy one now

I got an aluminum Lund. Got a couple grand in it. Had the motor in the barn and a tree fell on it so now I have a new motor ( ins paid for it) I usually fish water that is trolling motor only so it has never been cranked. Point is.....boat can sit for months. I ain't making payments. So what

Get a Key West 1720 from the early 2000s with a Yamaha 90 hp two stroke. Boat will last forever and engine will last forever if you take care of it. Easy to tow and easy to clean. If I still lived at the coast, I'd still have mine.

I started with a 15’ Fisher stick steer. Hated it. Very unstable in big water unless calm. Then went to a 16’Ranger. Much better. COE kept water so low I couldn’t get it right on the trailer by myself. Sold it and now retired and wanting to fish again but don’t want to spend big money. 16’ is the smallest I would go. Hope you find something.
