I know doodly squat about boats and want to fish. What do you recommend?

I would say 18-19' with a wide beam if you are a big guy. And I would look at an aluminum boat center console with platform up front. 90 HP would be good for that length. I had a 17' foot like a bass tracker type boat. It was too narrow for my big ass and there was no room to move around on. It had a 70 HP which had plenty of speed for that size boat but I would look at a bigger one with just a touch bigger motor and you'll be satisfied with that. Anything less than that and you going to be struggling to move around on it. Those little 17' Bass Trackers are trash. Everyone I looked at the console was about to break loose. Get up in one at Bass Pro Shops and you will see exactly what I am talking about size wise.

I live in Camden County GA and have never owned a boat. I want the boat for fishing local waters and not offshore. The boat should be big enough for two and I may go flounder gigging as well. Fishing the rivers and backwaters of this area.

What type and size of boat is best for this area?
Engine size?
Anything else you recommend as far as gear etc?
Best manufacturers?
If you ride back up to McIntosh Co ( or hell even Glynn Co) every other yard has a boat sitting there that ain't been used in years. Some of them might even be "Free to Good Home". Seriously in Darien boats are yard art like Camaros and Mustangs are around here.
But my old saying about boats and pools still stands. I don't want either one. I just want a friend that owns one.
