I rented a one man auger and also tried to shovel. Photos attached. At best I can get a little under 2 feet. Ground is too solid. I'm about 1 mile due South of Milton High School in Fulton County. I'm going to use a vinyl liner so I just need a hole, not precision angles and measurements. Dynamite?

Cost estimates please.

Thank you
Frank

Find a rental store in your area. They'll deliver a backhoe mounted on a tractor to your house, and show you how to operate it.. Should be anywhere from $125-$200 per day plus fuel. Shouldn't take you but a couple hours for that small of a hole. If you need to you can use the bucket on the front of the tractor to dig a ramp down to 4 feet then use the backhoe portion to dig up the ramp from the top, waalaa!!! You've got a pool...

Yeah, you're talking about removing about 9 cubic yards of densely packed soil. That's 20,000 pounds worth.

Renting a mini-excavator for $300 a day is a good idea for getting the hole, if you just plan to mound up the extra dirt all around it.

Don't forget to hire an engineering consulting firm to do an environmental impact study and file with the GA Dept. of Busy Bodies, EPA, Army Corp of Engineers, and the Vatican so that they can all take six months each to approve your permits (after they have all denied it the requisite 3 times for minor paperwork errors).
