Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher designed quite a few high quality weapons before he died in 1904. He designed long guns and pistols. His name has become synonymous with full-length wooden stocks that run the entire length of the barrel or at least to within 2 or 3 inches of the end of the barrel. While he did design rifles with full length wooden stocks, after his death The Mannlicher - Shonauer company continued to design rifles with standard length wooden foregrips. These were either plain wood or wood with black paint on the ends much like the ones you might see on a Remington.

The main identifier of a Short Stock Mannlicher Schoenauer would be the bolt mounted a few inches forward of the trigger housing. You might also look for a double set trigger looking much like a double barrel shotgun trigger group.

See photo below...

There may be some obscure rifle out there that I'm not aware of but that's basically all I know.

Your photos of the detail on the barrel are too fuzzy to make out... It looks more like a Mauser to me... The rear of the bolt and the long ramp on the front sight look characteristic of a Mauser 8mm.

Ok so after double checking with the seller, he says its a mauser mannlinger 8mm. post WWII, Still I have no idea what its worth. He wants 800 for it.

No such thing as a mauser mannlinger. I think it is misspelled if anything. Mannlicher is the correct spelling and if it was a Mauser Mannlicher it would have a full length stock. Know what you are buying....
