I need to buy a tank and Argon/C02 gas for MIG welding - any recommendations around Cumming, Marietta, Cartersville?

My son is in the welding program at Chatt Tech. He has started welding around the house and said he needs to start using gas for some of the things we re trying to do. Can anyone recommend a place that sells the tanks and the gas? Talk to me slowly and like I'm 8 yrs old - I know nothing about gas/MIG welding.

Oh Man, it is not easy to find, unless if you buy at the store at a very expensive price. Last year I looked all over, even in South Carolina and couldn't find them. Found one on Facebook Market somewhere in Blue Ridge, and as I am fixing to go and get it, the seller text me and said, "I decided to keep it, won't sell it anymore!"

So, GLWP!!!

That's the small tank. These tanks come in all sizes!

Airgas or Sidnee Lee will have it.

And last time I bought some I got a 4’ tank from Northern Tool about 10 years ago. I cant remember if the tank was already filled or not.

That's right. Northern Tools does have them, either empty or full.

I could be wrong. You can only rent the large tanks for shield gas. I bought my tank from the welding supply house, they fill and do exchange. If you find a tank for sale in the wild, don’t buy it if it is the large one. Check test date. Look up welding supply house, call them and ask about size of tank you can buy.
