I picked up a Dead Wolf on I-20... then THIS happened.

What could have caused the fire?

Damnit! Sorry to hear this. Glad you got out in time.

Full coverage, right? What color will your next one be? :eyebrows:

Dude, I know you have seen it (houses if not cars) hundreds of times, but flames on hot motor oil moves FAST!!!
I moved some of my stuff about 30 feet away and went to call 911 on the phone I was on Waze with (for GPS) & BOTH my phones were still in their cradles in the car. (STUPID {except for teens:eek2:} HANDS FREE LAW). Ran back got both of them & their chargers, a bag of 200 9mm ammo/bullets/rounds/projectiles I had in the door pocket, that could have been a party. The flames moved probably 6 feet up the side of the car, in that one trip away from it... CRAZY!!!

Yeah, full coverage $1,000 deductible (never had an accident (car, 1 motorcycle accident @Mr. Goodbar 40 yrs. ago so we max out the duductible) Rental car for $5 a day... all is good in the senior citizen hood. :)

I HATE to lose my patriotic theme, but I will probably start out with a black (@Mr. Goodbar x2 :boink:) car this time... since that white car wanted to be black... and got there pretty darn quick... :pound:

My preacher gives me a hard time for not buying American cars, so I tell him I am more American than him with my patriotic "stable" Red, White (yesterday), and Blue & all :usa2: :)

This is my Son's Jeep. He had just parked it close to the house and was inside watching TV. Seen smoke and went out and flames were coming out of the car. I went over and he was spraying water on it and it was bursting in flames. Withing minutes it was blazing up all over like crazy. I never realized a car could burn that fast. Everything on it burned and lot of it blowed up. Been about 3 weeks and they are still investigating the cause. We don't know why it burnt like that. It was close to the house and a propane tank. The fuel tank on car never did explode. Fireman said they usually don't blow up. But a lot of the material is very flamable like the Steering column and engine (Magnesium or something. Jeep is only about a year old.View attachment 1707599 View attachment 1707601
Is that a Patriot? What year model?

I just bought one for my daughter this last weekend. White, 2015, Altitude.

Good thing you hadn't just pulled into your garage, else you would be homeless now, as well.

Thanks for posting the vid, and the story.
Sorry to hear about your car.

When I was in law school, a friend and classmate (on a tight budget, not working, living off student loans) took his car to a shop for an electrical problem.
They quoted him a price that was equal to the book value of the car, and said if you don't get this fixed you could have an engine fire any day, or it might never happen.

He asked me what he should do. I said start carrying a bag of marshmallows and a four-foot long stick in the car. If it catches on fire, at least then you'll have something to do to keep your mind occupied while waiting for the fire truck.

He didn't take my advice about the marshmallows, but sure enough the vehicle did catch fire and burn the engine compartment. Total loss.
