If Trucking stocks are sinking?

I'm not sure all this automated, driverless and AI stuff is going to be the jackpot all these tech bros think it is.

Once you replace all the truck drivers, accountants, store clerks, teachers and support desk folks, cab drivers, etc - who is going to be left to buy all the "stuff" that keeps the US economy moving? Unemployed folks don't spend a lotta money.
100% will not be

Change is inevitable. When the horseless carriage became popular, who was there whining about the job losses to the buggy-whip industry?

The trucking industry WILL evolve into the driverless technology. No whiny bastard behind the wheel that can fall asleep or will time out at 8 hours of driving. No backup driver asleep waiting for his turn at the wheel. No sick days, vacation or time off. No payroll taxes and healthcare insurance. Won’t be any of that either.

Everything is an upfront sunk cost. As long as it works as advertised there isn’t the need for the added expense.

Look at the airline industry. They already have a certified CAT4 landing. That means the aircraft can make an approach, land the aircraft, AND taxi to the gate with zero/zero visibility and ZERO input from the stick actuators (pilots).

It’s just a matter of time before the pilots are there only to monitor the plane flying itself, and how many years lates before they reduce the number of pilots in the cockpit? How long after that before airline pilots go the way of the buggy whip?

But if they kill off most of us problems solved.

Another disruptor is the impact of INS enforcement (and state action) against fraudulently issued CDLs and their employers.

Many smaller trucking firms will fold because many of their personnel held fraudulently issued CDLs which meant they'd work cheap, and the trucking firms couldn't maintain profitability at prevailing market wage.

So expect some consolidation and a small windfall in the form of increased business for larger trucking firms as the number of small trucking firms fall.

Well yeah. But again, still doesn’t answer the question. Who will buy all the cool **** when there are no jobs left to be filled due to all this super duper robotic efficiency? AI and Uber bots won’t be lining up for a mortgage or a new Tv from Best Buy. Peachtree city will be a ghost town when the bots fill all those Delta positions…

Then what.

Remember Joe Biden told the folks to ‘learn to code’? Now AI is doing that too. Change is inevitable. Where the rubber meets the road, there’s going to be a skid mark.

There are plenty of jobs that can’t be done by a machine, YET.

Tucker Carson had a great video. To give the short version, he said if he were King, or President he would make driverless trucks illegal. He said the number one highest paying jobs for non high school graduates and graduates is driving some type of vehicles. Driverless vehicles will cause a huge amount of harm to our economy.
Yes and subject the systems used run them suspect to being hacked if so
Be a criminal or terrorist dream.
