Q: May I carry at technical schools and colleges?
A: No! However, a person with a Georgia Weapons License may carry a firearm while dropping off or picking up a student and also may keep a firearm in a motor vehicle while parked on campus.

I am a student at a state university. They told me I cannot have a weapon in my car even though I am 25yrs old with a valid GFL. Does this mean I can do it anyway?

Legally yes, but they can expel you for it if they wish.

Well actually I went down to the campus PD yesterday to ask about the new carry laws and they said I could have a weapon in my car on campus now. So I had them photocopy my GFL and my drivers license just to make sure. Ill have my Glock 23 with me on monday when I go back. Does it have to stay in my car or can I bring it into my dorm at night?

Assuming the dorm is owned by the school then it must be kept in the car.

That makes no sense, it would be much easier for somone to steal it out of my car than out of my dorm. Im going to talk to the Chief down at the campus PD today for some clarification. I think its much safer if its a secret anyway. Nobody needs to know that its there, not even my close friends. The last thing I need to deal with is some punk ass 18yr old trying to break into my car and steal my handgun.

On school property it must remain in your car unless you are LEO or other excepted personnel by state law. Removal from your car will violate OCGA 16-11-127.1 (which can be read here: http://www.lexis-nexis.com/hottopics/gacode/ )

Its not up to the Chief. This is GA law. It must be kept in your car at all times on Campus like jlcnuke stated.

If you want to be a guinea pig you could get an AR15 with a 16 inch barrel and keep in in the dorms. In GA Law they are not considered weapons because they failed to define them as a long gun or a pistol. However, I wouldn't suggest it.

I know people who take Paxil for unstable attitudes and im glad none of them own a gun.

A friend of mine commited suide while taking Xanex and in a few other cases it has been suspected of being linked to suicidal thoughts.
percocet can be added to that list as well.
