If You Carry Know Your Laws! (FAQ)

Absolutely no Federal Laws against that. There are some states that I am sure differ however, such as CA, NJ, MA, etc . Georgia is not one of them.

In short, here is what you have to do. Ship the handgun through UPS or Fedex **overnight* delivery to the FFL / Gunsmith. You have to declare the contents of the box as a handgun. You cannot use USPS (Postal Service) to ship it. The FFL / Gunsmith then ships it directly back to you when the work is completed - cannot use a PO Box, it has to go to a physical street address such as a house or apartment.

You can legally ship to an FFL in, or out of state this way - makes no difference - subject comments about some state laws.

Shipping pistol to gunsmith and back question. I thought that you could ship a pistol to a gunsmith for work and it could be shipped directly back to you w/ going thru ffl (in state). Am I wrong??

ok so is a 18 year old legally allowed to purchase or trade a firearm and receive a handgun from a private seller/ trader?

ok so from reading it doesn't say i couldn't buy a handgun, i did not see any thing about transporting the gun to and from the range. Can anyone clear that up for me?

What kind of information are you looking for? Like, can it be loaded, hidden somewhere in your car, or unloaded in a case, etc? To and from the range has no bearing on possession if you are legally able to possess a handgun. It only applies to minors who are in possession of handguns.

To transport in your car, regardless of where you are going, you have to be legally able to possess the firearm you are transporting. If you are legally able to possess the firearm you can transport it or carry it however you want.

To carry in someone else's car you have to be eligible for a GWL, which you are not being under 21.

If you mean actually carrying it from your car to the gun range (across a parking lot or something) it would have to be unloaded and in a case. This is again my personal interpretation of the laws, I am not an expert.

This is soooo helpful. I have turned alot of folks onto this site. Mainly store owners and managers have asked about carrying around town. For some reason when you let managers know you have a carry permit, they think it is for CCW. I enform the it is NOT... All the permit says is it is carry. In the state of GA you can carry openly if you choose and they are shocked. No issues though. So far everyone that asks has said thanked me for informing them. I have printed this thread a few times and have taken it into an establishment where the manger or owner have asked questions. They have been pretty receptive... Thanks for staring this.... Great thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
