C9 all the way.
Does it get any higher for the bore axis? I can't tell which is wider, the grip or the slide mated to the upper portion of the frame.

This. Except the Kobra Carry. I regret getting rid of mine more than any other gun. Mine was bobtailed though and would have to have the next one bobtailed as well.
If I had the chance to get one, it would have to be a 4" Smith & Wesson Model 1950 Target .44 Special.
