If you paid more than $400 for a 30/30...

Since only the caliber is listed my 30/30's are single shots, a Winchester highwall and a Ruger number 1. Both ran more than 400 dollars and would do it again with the prices I paid.

I don't understand how people are so interested in what other people think about what other people think about things. I think.

I, too, have one I didn't pay more than $400 for, that I've killed a pile of deer with. The great sentimental value has nothing to do with this topic.

But, you know, ODT.
Well, I don't care about what you think about what other people think about things. I think.
:p

I can say my microgroove shoots better than an old one. At one time I had a very nice, in the box, gold trigger 357. The holy grail if you will. And a newer microgroove with safety, hate that safety. But it out shot my old one, so i sold it.
This is most certainly true, a micro groove Marlin can be exceptionally accurate.
I have one that can shoot/group under 1” at 100, it will shoot heavy ugly 30 cal bullets all day long better than several of my Rem 20 cal rifles.

I had an old 35 that shot exceptionally well. I want to say 3/4" at 100yds. Took a deer at 225. One shot. Turned out the cartridge wouldn't do what I wanted/ needed in the brush. That's what I bought it for. It was an old beat up gun, but it shot better than any lever I ever put in my hands. I sold it to a friend of mine that loves the 35. I told him, don't you ever sell that rifle. It's a keeper. He took it shooting and agreed

Eh, it’s all relative. Supply & Demand doesn’t support the math you’re using for an analogy.
The 30/30 your talking about is the $399.00
Anderson AR of today.

When I was a kid I remember when .25 cents bought a Coke and a candy bar.
When I was a teen the movie cost $2 and the popcorn .50cents

When I got my license and a job I bought a brand new 79 Chevy Blazer 4x4 for $6,000. Off the showroom floor.

When I got married my first house cost $54,000 dollars.

As long as it's complete and functional and the bore isn't completely shot out I'll pay $400 cash today for pretty much any marlin or Winchester 30/30 you got.
