If you were judge, jury, and executioner - what would you do?

This is a comment a facebook friend wrote about this and I agree with everything he said

Seriously? This is even something that our justice system would even pay attention to? Every rock on the face of the planet is BILLIONS of years old. Construction companies destroy MILLIONS of tons of rocks yearly. Park Rangers purposefully dislodge and collapse potentially hazardous rock formations in parks all the time. This rock was loose and could have crushed someone eventually. Who gives a **** they knocked it over! Big oil companies dump billions of gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, and it's not such a big deal. Billions of metric tons of toxic chemicals are spewed into the atmosphere and no one cares! Japan still has out of control radioactive meltdowns and here, the media takes the time to focus on some people pushing over a rock. The rock was not even injured during it's toppling.

What a load of horse ****. If you are going to try to appeal to the environmentally-friendly people, please don't insult their intelligence by offering this type of stupid distraction.

It's blatantly hypocritical to cry about a half ton boulder when we damn up rivers, blast away mountainsides, and terraform entire landscapes.
Again, mean thing to do, but does it REALLY warrant all this attention?

I agree with the naysayers. We should all be allowed to go knock over as many of those as we want! I think I have even figured out a way to plug up Old Faithful! I also want to organize a Redwood logging contest to see who can cut the most of them down in the shortest time.

It is public land, and these guys knew they should not have done this. Think they would have done it with a Ranger standing by?

A felony might be a bit out of line, but with all the YouTube attention this video is getting, the park service has to make sure that everyone gets the message that you can't treat public land like it is your back yard. After this is all over, I am sure they will pay some fines and go about their way. But for now, Joe dumbass needs to have the crap scared out of him about this kind of crap.

the American flag is just a piece of cloth, Liberty bell is just some old iron, Arches national park is just a bunch of big rocks too.
Unless your yard happens to be a national park, you are comparing apples to fish.
felony? Nahh
Huge fines and permanent disbarment from any federal or state park, yes.
so none of you would be upset if the dems chiseled Obama's face into Mt Rushmore over, say George Washington?
Its only a rock...
The flag, liberty bell, mt rushmore are all man-made artwork or symbols of a larger sentiment. You are comparing apples (the examples you use) to mud(the federal park).
I think you and I are on the same page though. They should be fined, barred from the parks unless doing service, and given about a years worth of community service.
I'm just against the sensationalizing of such a stupid thing and the out of control legal system thinking they can charge felonies for this.
I do hope that retard loses his disability case. Obviously hes a winner.

national treasure

and I'm not talking about the movie

THose things fall over all the time, it would have been gone in the very next rain. I don't see the big deal AT ALL, and I am pretty mindful of nature conservation. If he had tagged it up with some paint, then I'd be annoyed.
Silly waste of time, attention and resources. It's a small boulder...and they are all over out there. Are people REALLY this touchy about such things?

Ummmmmm, yea. There for millions of years, but the next rain would knock it over.

You must be a geologist.
