All if your are planning on pinning and welding a muzzle device on a 14.5 556 piston AR, what device would you choose. Do not own any suppressors and don't know in today's climate if i am going to go down that path anytime soon.

I run a 14,7 wilson combat 6.8 barrel with a 1.5 inch Gamma short brake. I took s lot of time to make sure when zI built it that everything was just right before assembly. I took a little black touch up and touched up the comp. after I sanded the interface smooth. Hell now you can't even tell it was welded. I wouldn't taken that gun down for nothing. It happens to be my favorite rifle. I will tell you this. When that bitch goes off that short barrel andl comp will have your ears ringing for days.
Moral of the story. Short barrels are loud. LOL No all kidding aside take your time and make sure your selection is exactly what you want and don't settle or you will never be happy. Buy a killer barrel and a killer comp. The rest is esthetics and can be changed.

I like flash hiders, I also run suppressors so mine would be a dead air keymo flash hider. Solgw makes a NOX that has ports on a flash hider that's a mount also. It all depends on you. What you like, what you expect from it, and what you want to spend.

I'm just gonna thow out there that registering a lower is not much more than the price of a decent muzzle device and the labor to pin and weld.

I run nothing but flash hiders on my AR’s. To paraphrase Paul Howe, if you run a comp or brake on your 5.56/.300BO, you need to re-evaluate your life.

If it’s purely a competition gun, that’s different. I don’t own any of those.

My AR10 in 308 I run a good comp on. It needs a little taming. With the ,18 inch barrel it does help. Also the 14.7 inch 6.8 needs a little help. The 5.56/.223 doesn't have enough muzzle jump to even worry about. All my 5.56 rifle have just the run of the mill flash suppressors. Our opinions don't mean crap when it all comes down to it. If someone wants to spice up the rifle with a cool looking comp then I say go for it. Rifle are like hot rods. Changing things up a little even if it's strictly looks with no performance increase is half the fun of running such a modular unit.
