I'm not doubting the OP's story but unless there is video of someone taking the pistol out of his Jeep how can he prove that he had the gun stolen?

Yeah. That's why I think for high sensitive stuff like guns it's better to talk to the management the moment you think it was gone if you aren't totally sure it's back at X. That why if your wrong you just look like jerk instead of coming back later when the item is out of the shop. Do you know the serial number on the Glock?

I take everything out of my car when I have any work done at a shop. I have an "honest as the day is long" mechanic too. Just insurance, you know? I even clear the coins from the cup holder.
