Going to eventually take a vacation to where my family is from. I don't know anyone there personally but I think it will be a very fulfilling time for me and my family.

Start in the Tuscany region and work your way down. Very welcoming people, beautiful and historic country, great food and wine, and dirty. Bring lot's of Lysol wipes with you.
