Impossible to find campsites??

High priced Air bnb’s are actually what prompted this. I thought I could get a cheap popup and it would pay for itself within 4-5 trips to see the family. But it doesnt do me any good if I dont have a place to park it.
Population getting older + more people + inflation + Covid. Sucks.

Old Federal Campground on Lanier is booked up for a year in advance. You have to plan way ahead for the good spots. Or go out to the western US, federal parks, where there is a lot more room.

Or just go and park at random places like the Walmart at night and then in a state parking/beach lot during the day, or pay for parking in a some sort of venue, like a musuem or such during the day. Dont ask for permission, just beg for forgiveness. This summer I parked at a Loves truck stop on one trip, in the morning the security guy in the golf cart told me it wasnt allowed, I thanked him as I drove away. I've overnighted in plenty of parking lots, never been told to leave. Just plan on arriving late and leaving early in the morning.

Yea, hows that working out for ya??......Just like always, it wasn't broke and they fixed it.......

We had a pop up and actually sold it in 2021 or so. We don't plan months in advance. We may see a free weekend here and there a few weeks out and found that it was too late. Camping is a rich mans game these days. Its cheaper to get a hotel or rent a camper a few times a year than buy a truck and camper and pay for a spot. One day we will get back into it.
Camping is a lot of work to live homeless.

Grew up camping as the family vacation since we had a travel trailer. This is in the '70s.

Camped a few times with the boys growing up and always had a lot of fun. First time we let them run off on their own was at the state campground at Moccasin Creek. I think they were seven.

It's a lot of fun - no wonder it's become so popular...

Good luck in your quest!

i like off in the woods areas better but Moccasin Creek is very nice to haul the inlaws camper to and gives them a nice flat campground to walk around and 'visit' with people.

Lots of people living full time in their RV's due to selling their homes at the height of the real estate market, and tons of people bought campers during covid.

The only time we try to camp now is during the week as it is impossible to book a weekend less than 6 months out.

I would love to buy a piece of property and open an RV park. I have had people offer to rent my camper out or rent out the spot at my home it sits since it is covered and has hookups.

Honestly, I am really considering selling the thing since it's almost impossible to use now.

Last year we put it in a campground in Alabama for 9 months as that was the only way we could ever use it.
