Considering selling this rifle and was wanting some information on it, mainly a fair asking price. DOU 42 on the top of the receiver, eagles and swastikas intact, and all numbers match except the bolt handle best I can tell. Bore looks good to me but I’m no expert.

I’ll post any additional pictures needed for identification or whatnot. Just ask.

...and really nice looking.
Thanks. I was planning to have a rifle built off the action a few years ago but Hogleg Smith said he would rather not cut up a nice example. It’s been taking up space in the safe ever since and with the prices on Mosins and SKS’s these days, figured it may be time to sell.

That being said, I’m not trying to rip anyone off. Just want a fair price for both parties.

Need pictures of the right side of the receiver, and the base plate. Also the bolt, should have numbers on the bolt handle. If it's all matching, and not a Russian capture, I'd say it's $2,000.00 dollar rifle. If it's non matching numbers then, I'd say it's worth around $1,100.00 to 1,200.00 bucks. It looks like a nice rifle. It's getting harder to find unmolested K98's in nice condition like yours.

P.S.
Take that sling off. 😆

Thank God for Hogleg Smith... if you had sporterized that rifle, it wouldn't be worth a bucket of warm spit.

Hey, don’t hate on the sling. I believe it was gifted by Hitler himself.

But seriously, it was on it when I got it. 😂

I’ll get some more pics but the bolt handle definitely doesn’t match.

How do I tell if it’s a Russian capture?

Non matching numbers K98, should fetch $1,000.00 to $1,200.00. I'll look up the maker, and find out how many were produced that year. If it was a Russian capture, it would have been "force matched " with a electric pencil. The captured K98's were written on to match the S/N on the receiver. I don't believe your rifle is a Russian capture.
