I mean, honestly, if I pull the trigger on a 5.0 it's gonna have to be an XLT. I can't justify spending so much on a Lariat or King Ranch, and to have crap I don't even want or trust (keyless ignition, center shift/console). At least with an XLT I can get out for around $42k-44. In that situation I would put $25k or 30k down and then deal with the rest over a 3 or 4 year loan term.
I was pleased with the XLT package. I got lucky and found mine with shift on the column and a color that I actually liked.

Just sold a '12 six and went to a '15 eight. Mileage is about the same around town and towing isn't an issue anymore. Sounds awesome too.

Nothing wrong with an XLT these days. Lots of nice features available on them now.

Sport pkg is a nice chrome free option too.
