Is it legal to pursue ?

Shooting back and forth from vehicles is frowned upon, in general. Off the top of my head, I don’t know of any LE agencies that don’t prohibit it. I’m sure there are some, especially in more rural areas.
Unless you work in Vegas, apparently.

Vegas cop shoots through windshield while driving

I kept thinking "where are all those rounds going?" and "will this guy be able to hear tomorrow?"

Apparently the guys in the SUV were suspected killers and they did start shooting first. But I can't help but think of the risk to every person driving or walking on the street that day.

My agency has a “no firing from a moving vehicle” policy, but I would violate it in a heartbeat if the situation warranted. Better to seek forgiveness than to ask permission.

IS IT LEGAL TO PURSUE A Thief who just committed a felony level theft against you and is now running away to escape, and armed, but not actively threatening anybody (yet).

At this point, before you start chasing them do you have a right to begin that pursuit?

You think so? Then let me ask, for what goal is this chase?

Is it self-defense? (are you being threatened?)

Or is this to prevent a crime? (has the crime already been completed?)

If the crime has been completed, then are you doing a citizens arrest on this person?
( since three white guys chased and later killed a black guy that they thought was a thief, Georgia repealed its law on citizens arrests-- now the only citizens arrest scenario we have is something for store owners and state licensed security guards dealing with shoplifters.)

Ahmad arby was a mentally ill criminal and the world is worse off with those decent men being held as political prisoners

I don't think chasing them should be an issue. He might just have been trying to figure out where they were going so he could tell the cops.

On the flip side, that was what they used against George Zimmerman, so maybe not a great idea. If he had killed a 12 year old kid it would have been pretty much over for him no matter how justified he was or what the courts said.
