Is this normal/safe?

In the process of taking a little inventory yesterday, I popped the mag out of my AR and seen this on the first round. Is this normal/safe? Should I even try to shoot it at the range? My initial thoughts are no. The round never was chambered. Could it be from slapping the mag in on a closed bolt?

Could very well be.

Unless it is a life and death situation, not a good idea to be forcing things mechanical.

No that is from releasing the bolt when there was the nose of a round only partially in the chamber.

I don’t care how hard you insert your magazines you could never do that!
