The Level III Plate Armor, manufactured by AR500 Armor, is made from an extremely rugged ballistic grade steel core. It is stress fracture resistant and designed to handle extreme abuse in day-to-day use, training, and less than ideal storage conditions. Specifications: rated for calibers up to 7.62x51 (.308 Winchester) at 2,780 fps. Dimensions: 8”x10” and 10”x12”. Width .25” Weight varies according to plate size. 100% Made in the USA.

The Level III+ plate, made by AR500 Armor, use an improved ultra-hard ballistic steel core, further enhancing performance over their level III line, with nearly a 30% increase in core strength. Level III+ armor offers enhanced ballistic protection against 5.56x45 M193, 5.56x45 M855/SS109, and 7.62x51 M80 Ball & Black Tip AP (.308) rifle threats.

We also provide Level IV armor piercing protection plates and soft trauma pads for all levels and sizes of plates.

So what is a complete set up cost?
Let's assume Level III+ plates front and back, in the right size and with the correct plate carrier for a guy who wears "XL" clothing (46" chest).

By the way, is there any side protection available, either with plates or soft body armor that is part of the carrier?

Thanks for your inquiry. If you're an XL, 10x12 plates are the correct size. I can confirm better with your height and weight though.
Level III+ plates are $115 for the base coat, $140 for the Paxon (spall protection) coat. A reasonably priced carrier that's very popular, good quality, and functional is the Modular Operator Plate Carrier. It's priced at $77.95 and holds side plates as well. You can add 6x6 or 6x8 side plates. Level III+ (base coat) for $57.50 each. So, in summary, you can get a plate carrier and two plates (front and back), Level III+ (base coat), starting at $308, plus tax.
